About Paige Griffin | Hā Paige Designs

Moody double-exposure self-portrait photograph by Paige Griffin (HāPaige), showing a silhouetted figure standing by the ocean at dusk with layered faces and teal-blue tones, blending introspective portraiture with coastal landscape photography.

Hi, I'm Paige. I am an artist, designer, and photographer currently based on the island of Kauaʻi. My work is rooted in place, process, and a lifelong curiosity for making, shaped by a deep respect for craftsmanship across many creative disciplines.

I grew up in Chicago and the surrounding Rust Belt prairie landscape, an environment that taught me to notice quiet expanses, changing seasons, and resilience. I have always grown up with dogs, and when I moved out on my own, I adopted my dog Koda, who has been my constant companion through every chapter of my life and work.

My professional path began in Rockford, Illinois, where I worked as a barista at a coffee roastery. That experience grounded me in process, repetition, and attention to detail, values that continue to inform my creative practice. Over time, I discovered a deep love for visual storytelling and began working as a wedding videographer, learning how to capture emotion, movement, and atmosphere through film and photography.

At 26, I relocated to Hawaiʻi with my boyfriend. We road-tripped to California to ship our car before moving to Kauaʻi with Koda. Living on the island has deeply influenced the way I create, encouraging a slower, more intentional approach and a stronger connection to breath, rhythm, and the natural world. I currently work as a coffee roaster while dedicating my time outside of work to my art.

I am a multidisciplinary artist, and I love working across a wide range of mediums and methods. I create using paint, textiles, photography, and design, allowing each idea to take the form that best suits it. My original paintings are inspired by Celtic art, Hawaiian quilt work, and geometry, blending ancestral influences with natural structure and movement. My photography is ethereal and atmospheric, often focused on light, softness, and a sense of quiet connection.

Through Hā Paige Designs, I offer original paintings and fabric and surface design commissions, and I am developing a collection of textiles and garments featuring my original designs. I am currently open to commissions and actively seeking freelance opportunities, collaborations, and creative partnerships.

Hā, meaning breath or life force, is central to everything I make. Each piece is created with intention, honoring both where I come from and where I am now.
